What is Freedomschoolers Academy?
Freedomschoolers Academy is a private school for Florida homeschooling families seeking an alternative to the Home Education Program (HEP) option managed by their school district. Our students are legally private school students, although the method of schooling is home education. We are registered with the Florida Department of Education in the Private School Database under Flagler County, but enrollment is open to homeschoolers in all Florida counties. For 12 years, we have offered our umbrella service free of charge.

What does Freedomschoolers Academy offer?
We offer Florida's homeschooling families the freedom to focus on their students rather than trying to demonstrate academic progress in a 3-ring binder to appease the broken and failing education system.

We also offer:

• D
iplomas and official transcripts to our high school graduates
• Academic records and progress reports for K-8
•
 Teacher and Student IDs
• Work waivers
• FHSAA EL12V forms for sports
• Completion of Private School sections for government-required forms
• Enrollment Verification letters

What about Portfolios and Annual Reviews?
There are no portfolios to maintain, no annual portfolio reviews, no annual certifications of progress to submit, and no surprise HEP portfolio inspection demands.

No Annual Re-Enrollment
Students remain enrolled until a formal withdrawal form is received. We may check in with families periodically to ensure a student has not graduated or left FSA without proper notification of withdrawal.

What about Attendance?
Florida law (F.S. 1011.60(2)) requires 180 days of school attendance for private school students. Since homeschooling is the method of education used by our families, every day is an opportunity for learning. As such, all Freedomschoolers Academy students are in compliance with Florida's compulsory attendance law.

Is Freedomschoolers Academy a Christian School?
Freedomschoolers Academy is listed as a Religious (non-denominational) private school as an administrative statement of our Christian beliefs. Content on this website, as well as our social media outlets, reflects those beliefs.

We welcome all homeschooling students in Florida regardless of religious affiliation, and we do not require a statement of faith for enrollment. There are no religious instruction requirements. However, all Freedomschoolers Academy interactions between enrolled students (and their families), whether online or in person, must be conducted in a family-friendly manner.

What are the Costs and Fees?
Our service is free. We are blessed to have families who are able to contribute to help pay our operating expenses. We do reserve the right to offer additional optional services for a fee.

What about Scholarship Recipients?
Florida educational scholarships are constantly changing. What used to be straightforward is now more complex. Here are simplified scholarship answers relevant to our current and potential enrollees (as of 10/2025):

• Freedomschoolers Academy is not a “participating school” for scholarships. That means we do not receive, handle, or distribute scholarship funds. Scholarship participation requires regulation, which is the opposite of the freedom that FSA offers our families.

• Currently, only FES-UA (Unique Abilities) recipients are permitted under FES-UA rules to enroll or remain enrolled with Freedomschoolers Academy.

•  FES-EO (Educational Options) and PEP (Personal Education Plan) recipients are not permitted under scholarship rules to enroll or remain enrolled with Freedomschoolers Academy.
